Seven people made a significant step in their faith journey by being enrolled as members of The Salvation Army at Caloundra Corps (Qld) on Sunday.

Barry Nimbs, Elaine Hans and Deb Lynch were enrolled as senior soldiers, while Leo Garbellotto, Michele Pere, Kevin Lawless and Tim Martin became adherents.

Corps Officers Aux-Lieutenants Karen and Tim Clark conducted the swearing-in ceremonies before fellow Corps Officer Major Beth Twivey brought an inspiring message.

What an amazing morning spent together!” Karen said. “The testimonies that each of these people shared on Sunday morning were so encouraging. A common thread is that they felt like they had come home and were made to feel welcome, part of the family. Barry shared his testimony in song, with the old favourite ‘It is well with my soul’.”

In term four last year, Tim and Beth conducted the ‘Foundations’ course (soldiership classes), where The Salvation Army’s doctrines and articles of faith were explored. The course not only looked at what The Salvation Army believed but challenged each person’s belief and trust in God and the person Jesus.

“The course was held on a Tuesday night following our Community Dinner, and there was an open invitation extended for anyone who wanted to know more about the Army,” Karen said. “We had quite a few come along, and the seven enrolled on Sunday were those who wanted to take on the commitment of becoming a member of The Salvation Army.”
