Salvo Stories: Kathie’s Story
Kathie grew up in foster care and then lived on the streets of Kings Cross in Sydney. At 15, she saw her life spiralling towards drugs, prostitution and alcohol. She knew she didn’t want that for her life but didn’t know how to get out of it. Going to a Salvo safe house one evening and then a church service the next morning radically turned her life around. Today, she works as a family ministry leader training mentors to journey with struggling families through the COACH program. Kathie says that her philosophy on life very much aligns with The Salvation Army – being like Jesus, who walked with people and journeyed in relationship with them.
