A celebration of mission and ministry

The Salvation Army’s upcoming Festival of Mission is set to be a celebration of ministry and a chance to evolve mission practice, with six days of presentations from world-class keynote speakers, training and worship.


The festival is split into three parts over 23-29 November in Melbourne, with the first being the Mission Immersion Experience, hosted by Project 614 from 23-26 November, the second being the Mission Manifesto, held at both Project 614 and the Victorian Trades Hall from 27-28 November, and finally the Mission Mandate, a rally on 29 November at Project 614 between 10.30am and 12.30pm.


Alongside hosts Majors Brendan and Sandra Nottle and Commissioner Miriam Gluyas, the event will feature General Lyndon Buckingham, international leader of The Salvation Army, and Commissioner Bronwyn Buckingham, World President of Women’s Ministries.


Among the featured guests will be General Lyndon and Commissioner Lyndon Buckingham, Majors Brendan and Sandra Nottle, Danielle Strickland, John Cleary and Sandra Berry.


Additionally, keynote speakers include Danielle Strickland, a world-renowned writer and speaker on faith and justice; broadcaster John Cleary; and speakers Ian Mayhew and Sandra Berry.


The Mission Immersion Experience

The first portion of the event will include both practical and reflective elements.


Described as an immersive experience, the event will engage participants in exploring God’s call to mission, engaging in frontline ministry, and reflecting on what faithful local mission could look like in their own communities. Leaders are calling for prayer for:


  • God’s guidance and direction for participants;

  • Open hearts as they listen and learn;

  • Meaningful ministry encounters and conversations;

  • Wisdom for leaders and facilitators;

  • Lasting impact in participants’ local communities;

  • The people and communities they’ll connect with.

Mission Manifesto

This section will feature worship, prayer, storytelling, learning and shared experience. With the conviction that God works through ordinary people, Mission Manifesto will bring people together to lift their eyes, strengthen their faith and rediscover the courage to step into God’s calling.


Electives will be led by The Salvation Army’s Brendan Nottle, Captain Matt Gluyas, Lauren Martin, Auxiliary-Lieutenant Rosy Keane and Mark Soper, along with Sandra Berry, John Cleary, Ian Mayhew and Danielle Strickland.


Registration is limited, and tickets are available for $15 per day here.


Mission Mandate

As a conclusion to the Mission Manifesto, the Mission Mandate, a special Sunday Rally at Project 614 will bring together Salvationists and supporters for worship, celebration and prayer.


This territory-wide event will feature General Lyndon and Commissioner Bronwyn Buckingham as part of the worship gathering.
