This year’s Aboriginal Sunday service is set to fall on this Sunday 25 January, with churches and faith communities across the nation, including The Salvation Army, encouraged to take part.
Resources, provided by Common Grace, are this year centred on the theme of ‘Be Strong and Courageous’.
Reconciliation Action Plan and Projects Manager Sue Hodges will be speaking at Gosford Corps (NSW), with a sausage sizzle to follow the service.

Riverland Salvos in Berri, South Australia, are also marking the event with a commemorative space and candle lighting throughout the week leading up to the day.
Sue Hodges said the day was one that made her emotional, and she felt passionate about honouring Christian elders, such as Aboriginal Sunday founder William Cooper, who wanted Australians to know about the history of their Indigenous brothers and sisters.
“I just love being a part of the movement for the simple fact that we’re raising awareness, and that we can do something without dividing people,” Sue said.
