For the first time, The Salvation Army in Papua New Guinea has received a government donation for the work it carries out through its network of social programs.
Jason Peter, the PNG Minister for Community Development, Youth and Religion, presented the Army’s Major Gaina Vali with one million Kina (AUD$368,000 approximately) and expressed his gratitude for the Army’s “serving in the frontlines and giving hope to the hopeless”.
The Salvation Army’s social programs include those in health, education, literacy, community services, restorative justice and victim support and counselling.
