Salvation Army makes firm commitment to Aged Care

The Salvation Army has committed to providing ongoing high-quality services in its Aged Care sector.
By COLONEL WINSOME MERRETT

Dear friends,

I am writing to you to share some exciting news about the future of our Salvation Army Aged Care services.

As you know, The Salvation Army has been providing Aged Care services to older Australians for over 140 years. In alignment with our mission, this service promotes a unique experience of choice, lifestyle and belonging for all people as they age.

In 2022, The Salvation Army conducted a comprehensive review of our Aged Care services and its future direction to ensure we continue to support those most vulnerable in our communities as they age, including people who are homeless or at risk of homelessness.

With great excitement, I can announce that The Salvation Army Board has approved a new 10-year Strategic Plan for The Salvation Army Aged Care.

This new direction will further our mission and enhance our impact by significantly growing our socially focused Aged Care services. The focus in the coming decade will be on supporting older persons who are homeless, living in poverty or seeking support to age with dignity by providing high-quality, compassionate and holistic care in communities across our nation.

Over the next 12 months, we will continue to explore what the implementation of this Strategic Plan will look like and will keep you informed of appropriate developments.

Aged Care personnel, residents and their families, and key stakeholders received communications about the future ahead for The Salvation Army Aged Care earlier today.

However, if you have any questions, please email agedcarecommunications@salvationarmy.org.au

As we embark on this journey, our vision, mission and values remain the same as we continue to transform Australia one life at a time with the love of Jesus.

God bless you each,

Colonel Winsome Merrett Chief Secretary
