Salvos Stores Engadine participates in local Street Festival

Salvos Stores Engadine, in Sydney’s south, recently opened its doors on a Sunday to be part of the local Engadine Street Festival.
“It was an opportunity for us to engage more directly with the local community and increase awareness of our store and mission,” said acting Area Manager, Matthew Viles.
On the day, Salvos Stores Engadine promoted a number of exclusive in-store offers to encourage festival attendees to visit the store. The team spent time chatting with locals and sharing information about The Salvation Army’s work.
“The festival provided a great platform to connect with people who may not normally visit our store,” said Matthew. “This allowed us to reach a broader and different demographic than our usual customer base.”
Opening the doors during the festival, which operated on Engadine’s main street, where Salvos Stores is located, was a visual reminder that Salvos Stores is a committed member of the local community.
Shire Salvos Mission Team Leader for Engadine Salvos Stores, Chez Wilson, was also on hand to chat with customers and refer anyone in need to local services. Chez is one of several Shire Salvos Mission Leaders who work from local Salvos Stores locations.
Their role is to fulfil The Salvation Army’s four mission pillars – building healthy communities, working for justice, caring for people, and creating faith pathways – from within the Salvos Stores space.
“My role is to meet people where they are at, listen and respond to their needs, and connect them with the right help and supports either in the local community or in the wider LGA as appropriate,” Chez told Salvos Online in 2023.
