As a lived-experience peer support worker at The Salvation Army’s Foster House in Sydney, Craig journeys with residents, offering a safe space, a listening ear and often a shoulder to cry on. Craig says that he understands what the residents are going through, sharing that he was once wracked in addiction and that he didn't want help, but he wanted somewhere safe to sleep. Foster House provided this and much more.

Craig says that the most important thing about his role is fighting for dignity, building trust and helping the men leave in a better state than when they arrived – a better frame of mind, with skills to be able to go back into the community.
